Kenyan Scenery and Wildlife

Another update from Dick, Matt, and the Pipkens in Kenya with some amazing photos:

After staying at Sweetwaters Preserve, where they were surrounded by beautiful scenery and unique animals (see pictures of rhino herd and hippo above and below), Dick and Matt spent some time at the Mount Kenya Animal Reserve.  All the animals there were abandoned or mistreated by previous owners or severely wounded by poachers, and have been taken to the Reserve to be rescued and cared for.  It is sort of like a zoo, but most of the animals roam free and very few are actually in cages!  The pictures of the guys with the monkeys and turtle are from the Reserve.

They also traveled to Thompson Falls in Nyahururu, a 250-foot waterfall where they took a hike down to the bottom and got some beautiful photos.

The guys had dinner out in the Masai at the Masai Mara Camp, where lions are especially active right now because the wildebeest are migrating from Tanzania to Kenya across the Serengeti desert.  They said it was a little scary, but fun to drink some Tuskers (the Lone Star of Kenya) surrounded by wildlife.
